Information about the next wave of flip phones have surfaced after some activity from Motorola. Apparently, a patent showing designs of a new flip smartphone and its external screen from this company has sparked talks of an upcoming Motorola Razr reboot. Here’s what we know about Motorola’s new moves so far.

As seen on mspoweruser’s report, a peculiar smartphone design showed that it could be flipped from the middle part of its screen.

In terms of competition, Royole’s FlexPai does allow the unit to be bent, but it does not come with a flip feature. Meanwhile, Samsung has already made the W2018, which is also a smart flip phone. Once this phone lands in the market, it’ll be sure to turn heads again once it proves its quality in features and sturdiness.

More than the smart device’s front screen, the Motorola Razr reboot may also feature an external screen on its back. The screen, which can be used when the flip phone is closed, allows users to check the time, battery charge and other phone information from their Motorola phone without opening it up. Since the new Motorola Razr reboot is a smartphone, it’ll be sure to have more features than the regular flip phone.

Looking at the design, the supposed Motorola Razr reboot phone looks similar to most smartphones aside from its middle hinges that will allow the phone to “flip” on itself and give it some sort of “ears” while not flipped. The design feels pretty solid for some analysts and will be a good comeback release for Motorola if the device gets developed and released soon. The Motorola Razr reboot phone is expected to retail at around $1,500 upon release.

In the late 2000s, Motorola was one of the leading phone makers as their products were one of the best flip phones out in the market. However, the company fell off the major competition when the first wave of smartphones arrived and flip phones became out of style. Potentially, Motorola’s return with a “smart flip phone” will be something to look forward to this 2019.
