National Look-Alike Day is celebrated annually on April 20 to appreciate all people who resemble each other, including twins, celebrity doppelgängers, or just friends who happen to have a likeness.

The day was first created in 1980 by Jack Etzel, a TV reporter from Pittsburgh who was looking for a new story. He saw a guy who looked like famous actor Humphrey Bogart and decided to interview him. Etzel then contacted Chase's Calendar of Events with his avant-garde idea and soon, April 20 was declared as National Look-Alike Day.

Apparently, it is also a day to have some fun by dressing up like your celebrity look-alike or sharing pictures on social media with your real-life doppelganger.

Although scientists believe that the odds of having two people look exactly like each other are very slim, humans are bound to bear semblances with each other and share similar features as our genetic diversity is very limited.

On this National Look-Alike Day, here is a list of five famous celebrity doppelgängers.

  1. Rihanna and Priscila Beatrice: Beatrice is a 28-year-old celebrity look-alike who has gained media attention for her similarities with Rihanna.

  3. Lady Gaga and Amethyst Rose: “If I had a dollar for every time someone said I look like Lady Gaga, I’d be V rich,” Rose, an 18-year-old from California wrote on her Instagram page.
  4. Jennifer Lopez and Janice Garay: Lopez has a Houston-based bodybuilder as her doppelgänger. Garay, also known as Jay from Houston, became famous in 2017 on Instagram after one of her selfies landed on Instagram explore page.
  5. Selena Gomez and Sofia Solares: Solares is a 22-year-old Mexican whose Instagram is flooded with comments from her followers comparing her with the singer. “I always try to be myself. I say it’s okay to look like her, but I do not want to lose myself for trying to be someone I’m not,” Solares said in an interview with E online.
