National Solitaire day is officially designated on May 22 to recognize a card game that has been around for more than 200 years.

The Solitaire game, also known by the name Klondike, uses a standard deck of 52 cards. The game is about clearing the board by creating a stack of cards from low to high in each suit. When the player completes each suit, he wins the game Solitaire.

The classic Solitaire game went viral in 1990 after Microsoft included Solitaire in Windows 3.0. Microsoft founded National Solitaire Day on May 22, 2018, to celebrate one of the most popular computer games.

Microsoft developed Solitaire into the Microsoft Solitaire Collection in 2012, featuring five of the top Solitaire games in one app. Since then, it is estimated that the game has been played by over 242 million people.

In 2020, Microsoft celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Microsoft Solitaire with participation from tens of millions of players each month from over 200 countries, in 65 different languages.
