  • FromSoftware's latest "Elden Ring" patch reportedly contains code pointing to a DLC
  • Data miners uncovered interesting details from the patch like a couple of maps
  • They also found a fragment of ray tracing feature in the latest "Elden Ring" patch

FromSoftware's latest "Elden Ring'' update leaves fans hopeful for downloadable content (DLC) coming very soon, and while it isn't officially confirmed yet, data miners uncovered interesting details that could point to what the anticipated content could be about.

Video game publisher Bandai Namco and gaming studio FromSoftware rolled out update 1.07 for "Elden Ring," introducing a massive overhaul of the core combat functions of the game. The same update served as a treasure trove of information for data miners, which think they have found some clues on the game's potential DLC.

The latest patch, which went live on October 13, introduced some of the biggest changes, including adding a separate scaling for PvP. "This feature allows separate damage scaling for Weapons, Skills, Spells, and Incantations when playing against other players," FromSoftware said.

"In the future, this feature may be used to balance weapons, Art, Spell, and Incantation in invading/PvP mode," the game developer added, seemingly suggesting that new content could be on the way. The patch contains a fragment of ray tracing, which though incomplete right now, allowed one modder to make it work in-game.

Moreover, data miners Sekiro Dubi and Sennoutantei uncovered a collection of files named DLC01, as well as the mysterious entry dubbed m61_arena_026 and a set of hairstyles. Also, the string "Parts_DLC01" found in patch 1.07 seemingly indicates that "Elden Ring" might get multiple expansions, just like "Dark Souls 2" and "Dark Souls 3."

Some fans think that FormSoftware could have rolled out the latest patch to lay the groundwork for the game's future DLCs. This has been seemingly confirmed by the code references of a couple of new maps for "Elden Ring."

Technically, locations in the game have codes, such as m11 for Lyndell and m10 for Stormveil. Data miner, who goes by the Twitter handle Sekiro Dubi, pointed out that codes m20 and m45 in the latest patch.

The code m20 has the same numbering pattern as Legacy Dungeons–areas like these in the game put players in the Souls-like zone with enemies that progress toward the boss. However, the code m45 is something new, which could mean, FromSoftware is going to introduce a new map in the game soon.

Some fans believe the code represents a PvP arena, while others have a theory that it could be a coliseum. It is worth noting that while the patch and codes are official, they do not explicitly say that a DLC for "Elden Ring" is coming soon. Fans should temper their expectations and take this new information as highly speculative at this stage.

Directed by Hidetaka Miyasaki, "Elden Ring" was released on February 25, 2022, and now playable on various gaming platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
