Mike Flanagan, the mind behind “Doctor Sleep” and the sensational and terrifying “The Haunting of Hill House,” is working with Netflix on bringing fans another horror series. The show, called “Midnight Mass,” is said to feature a “charismatic” and “mysterious young priest.”

“Midnight Mass” centers around an isolated small community that starts to transform upon the arrival of said mysterious priest. No word yet on who will be playing the priest, but so far, several actors, including Zach Gilford of “Good Girls” and Hamish Linklater of “Legion,” have been confirmed to have various roles in the series.

Flanagan will head to Vancouver this Spring to begin filming the seven episodes, as part of a multi-project deal he has with Netflix. This deal also includes the already released and critically praised “The Haunting of Hill House,” and the upcoming anthological sequel “The Haunting of Bly Manor” according to Entertainment Weekly. Flanagan previously worked with the streaming service for the films “Hush” and the Stephen King adaptation of “Gerald’s Game.”

Flanagan verified on Twitter that there might be a sort of King-universe connection between his movies. When asked about a book titled “Midnight Mass” that showed up in Flanagan’s previous films “Hush” and “Gerald’s Game,” Flanagan confirmed the connection.

The book is located within the home of “Hush” protagonist Maddie and is later seen held by Jessie (Carla Gugino) in “Gerald’s Game.” On top of that, Flanagan references the larger King universe in the outside world of the ladder, connecting to “Dolores Claiborne” and “The Dark Tower.”

No release date has been confirmed for the new series.
