  • Prosecutors accused a young Queens mother of murdering her own 6-week-old infants
  • The mother allegedly mixed Pine-Sol into their milk and ran hot water over them
  • She faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole if convicted

A New York mother has been charged with murder after she allegedly killed her 6-week-old twins by adding household cleaner Pine-Sol into their milk, running hot water over them, and, when her son managed to survive the ordeal, stabbing him in the neck.

Queens prosecutors revealed the charges Saturday at the murder arraignment of 23-year-old Danezja Kilpatrick, the New York Post reported. The young Queens mother was arrested Thursday after police discovered the dead bodies of her twin infants, Dallis and Dakota Bentley, inside their New York public housing apartment at 51st Street and 32nd Avenue.

Kilpatrick reportedly told authorities, "I can't take it anymore," when the bodies were discovered. She allegedly put Pine-Sol disinfectant in the babies' milk bottles and attempted to feed it to them, a criminal complaint stated.

The complaint said the mother then placed the children in the bathtub and ran scalding water over the infants after failing to poison them.

Authorities said Dakota stopped moving under the water, which prompted Kilpatrick to wrap her body in a pink blanket and place her inside a black plastic bag she put under the kitchen sink.

Dallis reportedly survived the first two murder attempts but was discovered with a knife sticking out of the back of his neck, the complaint said.

Relatives were shocked by the incident.

"She loved them," Kilpatrick's sister, Quanteya Kilpatrick, told the New York Daily News Friday. "She never gave me a feeling that she didn't. She always suffered from (mental illness) but I never saw her struggle with it while the babies were there."

However, Quanteya recalled that something seemed wrong with her sister on the day of the murders.

"As soon as I walked in I knew something was off. Something was giving me bad vibes... There were no baby clothes, no baby bottles. She told me the babies were with their father," she explained.

Kilpatrick's cousin, Keywona Llanos, called 911 after she had a concerning conversation with the mother, which led to the discovery of the infants and her arrest, police said.

Kilpatrick was charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, as per the Post.

She is scheduled to appear before a court on May 21. Kilpatrick faces life imprisonment without any possibility of parole if convicted on the charges against her.
