A 14-year-old Russian teen, who was "too scared" to inform her parents about her pregnancy, delivered a baby boy and put the newborn in a freezer to die.

The girl gave birth to the boy at home without anyone’s help, and then placed the newborn in a bag and put him in the freezer in her garage.

She rushed back to her room and started screaming for help. Assuming that the girl was suffering from appendicitis, her mother called an ambulance.

"She heard her moaning at night and thought her daughter was suffering from appendicitis," Novosibirsk's region official Nadezhda Boltenko said, News.Com.Au reported.

While the girl was being taken to the hospital, she "confessed to paramedics she had given birth and hidden the child from the adults in the freezer at the family home," Boltenko added.

Unfortunately, by the time the baby was discovered, he had frozen on death.

Calling it a "terrible case," the official said neither the girl’s parents nor her teachers had realised she was pregnant.

Investigation into the incident was ongoing and "all the circumstances of the infant's death" were being checked.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigation revealed the child’s father was 16 years old and had broken up with the teen few months ago.

The girl remained hospitalized in a serious condition.

The incident comes months after a 17-year-old girl was arrested after a newborn baby was found dead in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The newborn was found abandoned in a plastic bag with a kerchief tightly knotted around the neck. During investigation, over 3,000 women who had given birth were interrogated. Two months after the baby was found, the teen mother was traced and detained by police.

During interrogation, the teen confessed to killing her newborn and said she strangled the baby as her boyfriend suspected the child wasn’t his.
