  • "Now You See Me 3" is in the works
  • Lionsgate has hired Eric Warren Singer to write "Now You See Me 3"
  • Jesse Eisenberg has no idea when "Now You See Me 3" will start filming

“Now You See Me 3” is already in the works.

Lionsgate has hired Eric Warren Singer to pen the script for the third installment. Singer was nominated for an Oscar for his work on “American Hustle.”

“Eric has always been fascinated with the fine art of deception and illusion in all of its forms and he came to us with a great story that takes the mythology of ‘Now You See Me’ and pushes The Four Horsemen to a whole new level with our key returning cast and new characters,” said Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate’s motion picture group who made the announcement with Erin Westerman, president of motion picture production for the studio, Deadline reported.

“The ‘Now You See Me’ franchise has been built on keeping the audience surprised and guessing. Any great magician knows, you can’t keep doing the same tricks. And Eric and his team of illusionists have something special up their sleeve for this new film.”

There is still no update on the casting for the upcoming film. The previous movies starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman.

Meanwhile, Bobby Cohen and Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout are still onboard as producers. Meredith Wieck and Aaron Edmonds will oversee the Lionsgate project. Jonathan Bayme and his company Theory 11 will serve as the filmmakers’ magic consultant.

Singer’s most recent project is Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun,” which is set to release later this year. Cohen most recently produced the David Oyelowo starrer “Don’t Let Go.” On the other hand, Kurtzman most recently created and executive produced CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Picard.”

In March, Eisenberg discussed the film with Coming Soon. However, at the time the actor had no update on the heist thriller. In fact, he was concerned because it has been four years since the sequel was released and the long wait could mean a decline of interest from fans.

“I hear occasionally from my friends, the other actors in the movies, that ‘Oh, I’ve heard something’ and I go ‘Oh really? What’d you hear?’, but all we’ve got is ‘Oh, I hear they’re still working on it,'” Eisenberg said. “I’ve heard nothing, I wonder what the statute of limitations on that kind of stuff is, because maybe if enough time passes, there might be a decreasing level of interest in it.”
