“Orange is the New Black” star Kate Mulgrew lost an Emmy to “Mom” actress Allison Janney Monday at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards Monday night, and many irate Twitter users were quick to express their dismay.

Mulgrew has had a long and successful career, but 2014 was the first time she was nominated for an Emmy. She has been on television since the 1970s, with roles on hit shows like “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Ryan’s Hope” and “Mrs. Colombo.”

When Mulgrew was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Galina "Red" Reznikov on the hit Netflix series, she said she was happy just to be recognized because it shows how much she loves the character.

“It moves me because clearly it indicates that the viewers see how much I love her, how organic the chemistry is between Red and Kate Mulgrew and how the threesome of Jenji Kohan, Kate Mulgrew and Red work so symphonically,” she told E! Online.

Twitterati certainly love her character and flocked to the 140-character site to share their disappointment over the loss.
