Oliver Hudson shared a video of himself on Instagram on Thursday that he recorded in June 2021. In the video, the actor opened up about his struggle with mental health.

"I’m compelled in this moment. I went off my Lexapro about three months ago," the 45-year-old actor said in the one-minute video.

Hudson further revealed that he was on the medication for about 5 and a half years and how he feels after coming off them. "I was on it for about five and half years for anxiety and it’s been really gnarly for me," he said, adding: "It's been crushing, debilitating, scary, honestly, scary at times. But in this moment of time, I feel good. And it may be fleeting, in an hour I might be back to where I was. But I'm going to just bathe in normalcy for a moment."

The actor captioned the video to inform that it was recorded on June 30 last year, revealing that he was "in throes of intense anxiety."

"There were moments, very few, where I felt normal," he wrote. "I was gonna post this then but got nervous that it was too self indulgent and it very well may be but f--k it... I just came upon it and thought I’d share."

Celebrities took to the comments section to share their support. "I love you Oliver," actress Kate Hudson wrote along with a dizziness emoji, while actress Gwyneth Paltrow commented: "Love u Oliver" with a red heart emoji.

Actress Kyle Richards shared her own experience dealing with anxiety for many years and shared she is still on medication. "Thanks for sharing this. I have taken lexapro for anxiety for many years," she said. "I only take 5 mg now but it is a life saver for me. My anxiety was absolutely debilitating. Cheers to being anxiety free & hoping it doesn’t return."

Hudson married actress Erinn Bartlett in 2006. The couple shares three kids together - Bodhi Hawn, 11, Rio, 8, and Wilder Brooks, 14.

On the work front, the actor featured in a crime drama, "The Cleaning Lady," which dropped in January. He will be next seen in a movie, "The Three of Us," which is under pre-production.
