The Starz TV network has released a synopsis for Season 2 of “Outlander.” It provides details about some of the plot elements, characters and events that fans can expect to see. Meanwhile, series stars Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire) will be part of a panel next month at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California.

Spoiler TV reported that the synopsis says Season 2 begins with Claire and Jamie reaching France. Their main objective is to “infiltrate” the Jacobite rebellion and stop the battle of Culloden. The two main characters will be helped by Jamie’s cousin Jared (Robert Cavanah) and the characters will get to experience the “intrigue and parties” of the French society.

The relationship of the two characters is said to be tested again, while they attempt to change the “course of history.” Claire, a character from the 1940s, knows what is about to happen. She will help Jamie prevent the “doomed Highland uprising,” which would mean the “extinction of Scottish life as they know it.”

Production for “Outlander” Season 2 is currently underway in Scotland. The two lead actors along with Duncan Lacroix (Murtagh Fraser) have been spotted filming scenes together. The storyline for Season 2 will be based on the book “Dragonfly in Amber” by Diana Gabaldon.

The Wrap reported that Gabaldon and TV series creator Ron Moore will join the cast members at Comic-Con. They will make a presentation at 4 p.m. PDT July 11 in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center, and are expected to answer questions from fans. The entire Comic-Con show will run July 9 to 12 at the convention center.
