While Claire’s search for Jamie was in full-throttle, Jamie had no idea his wife was looking for him. He was ready to disappear into his new job, but life had other plans in “Outlander” Season 3, episode 4.

In “Of Lost Things,” Claire (Caitriona Balfe) continued to look for clues about Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) whereabouts with Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) until the trail ran dry on the Starz drama. Meanwhile, Jamie started working at Helwater with the Dunsany family, and he’ll found their daughter Geneva (Hannah James) to be a troublemaker who would change his life forever.

While Jamie and Claire’s separation is difficult, there were actually a few lighter moments in this week’s episode of “Outlander”:

Jamie Drops Geneva: Jamie’s new job as a groomsmen means he must take orders from the spoiled Geneva. The bored girl starts to toy with Jamie. She pretends to have fallen and fainted so Jamie will pick her up. When he realizes it’s a trick, he drops her straight into the mud. Luckily, she finds his sass entertaining and doesn’t rat him out to her father.

Claire’s Pearls: There’s not much that Claire still has from her relationship with Jamie, but Fiona (Iona Claire), Mrs. Graham’s granddaughter, gives Claire her pearls back. They were Jamie’s mother’s before Claire had them, and getting them back is clearly a heartfelt moment.

Brianna and Roger’s Kiss: Brianna admits to Roger that she and her mother are closer now that Claire isn’t hiding anything, and that actually might be a problem. Bree has become more afraid of losing her mother. What if she can’t come back? Roger assures her that she is just a good daughter, but he admits that he is afraid of finding Jamie too. He doesn’t want Brianna to leave and go back to Boston. After he admits that, Brianna kisses him.

Jamie Decides To Stay: Geneva forced Jamie into having sex with her, and it seems that night resulted in her pregnancy. Unfortunately, she dies after giving birth. Geneva’s sister Isobel (Tanya Reynolds) knows that Geneva and her husband, the Earl of Ellesmere, never had sex. When the Earl holds a knife to the newborn, Jamie shoots him. This act seems to earn Jamie his freedom. Geneva’s mother says that his parole can be lifted and he can go home. However, Jamie wants to stay at the estate for his son’s early years.

Lord John Grey Takes Over As A Father: Eventually, Jamie has to go home. It’s starting to become apparent that he is William’s (Clark Butler) father, and he can’t let anyone know that. He asks Lord John Grey (David Berry) to look after him. In exchange, Jamie is willing to fulfill Grey’s fantasies. Grey is shocked that Jamie is offering his body, but he’s actually engaged to Isobel, whom. He’ll be in a position to care for Willie anyway.

Still, “Outlander” couldn’t let audiences walk away feeling happy. Jamie had a heartbreaking departure where Willie tried to convince him to stay in England. Claire and Brianna, meanwhile, got on a plane back to America after running out of clues for Jamie’s whereabouts.

“Outlander” Season 3 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on Starz.
