Overwatch Baptiste wallpaper
Players actually have both healing and hurting with him around in teams. Blizzard Entertainment/Overwatch

After his "Overwatch" origin trailer, Blizzard Entertainment has followed up with Baptiste’s gameplay trailer. This trailer features his weapons, abilities, passive, and his ultimate which will build up his role in matches as a combat medic. Here’s what we know so far.

According to the new patch notes on the "Overwatch" test servers, Baptiste’s abilities are balanced on both offense and healing. While he has an ability that allows him to safely traverse over walls and pits, he doesn’t seem to have a quick mobility tool. Here are his full list of his unique tools.

  • Weapon: Biotic Launcher
    • Primary fire: Three-round burst that rewards players if they land all three shots as they control the gun’s recoil
    • Secondary fire: Fires a grenade that heals teammates over an area, works similarly to Zarya’s alternate fire
  • Ability 1 – Regenerative Burst
    • Baptiste lets out a healing pulse that continues to heal him and affected teammates over time
  • Ability 2 – Immortality Field
    • Erects an energy field that prevents allies from dying while inside its area
  • Unique Passive – Exo Boots
    • Allows Baptiste to jump higher to go over walls and pits when he crouches in midair
  • Ulimate – Amplification Matrix
    • Baptiste creates a wall that boost damage and healing potency of ally shots and projectiles that go through it
    • Similar to Mei’s Ice Wall, its position can also be adjusted before deployment.

Other than his skills, Baptiste’s health is at 200, which makes him a character with decent survivability as he has the same base health value as other offense characters like Soldier 76. Coupled with two healing abilities and one death prevention ability, Baptiste’s presence is hard to remove and allows his team to last longer in fights. Currently, Baptiste is now available on the "Overwatch" test servers.

To see a brief showcase of his abilities, the official "Overwatch" Twitter has released a video featuring all of Baptiste’s moves. For now, we’ll have to wait for his release on the live servers in about a few weeks.
