  • Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida teased that they will be revealing a "compelling" game lineup for PlayStation 5 "soon"
  • There have been rumors that Sony will hold its PS5 reveal this June 2020
  • PS5 is scheduled to be released this Holiday 2020

Fans eagerly waiting for PlayStation 5 could be in for a treat in the coming weeks.

According to recent reports (via Gamespot), Sony is eyeing to reveal its roster of games for its next-generation console sooner rather than later. This is after CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said in a corporate strategy meeting that the tech giant has plans to “introduce a compelling lineup of titles soon.”

With the E3 2020 canceled due to the coronavirus crisis, Sony was forced to change its plans and find a new way to make its all-important announcement about what to expect in PlayStation 5. Previous reports cited that the company is planning a May reveal, but it doesn’t seem to be the case now.

Most recently, there had been claims that Sony would do a June announcement instead – particularly June 4. However, according to Jeff Grubb of Venture Beat, that will be delayed for a few days.

“First is a Sony event in early June. The company was originally planning this for June 4 but is moving it around. The exact date is more nebulous now. That doesn’t mean it’s slipping by a matter of weeks, though. The early June timeframe is still the company’s current plan,” Grubb wrote in his report.

Considering Sony’s recent statement and Grubb’s claim, it is possible that there is indeed a major PS5 reveal that is happening in the upcoming weeks – probably in the first few weeks of June.

Microsoft has already made their console and game reveal for Xbox Series X, so there is understandably a lot of anticipation for Sony’s move. Besides, a lot of people have been impressed with the next-gen of Xbox and several experts have been favoring the console based on what has been shown so far.

Sony’s announcement is also highly anticipated due to the fact that games are expected to be scarce when the PS5 launches in Holiday 2020. After all, the company itself warned recently that game development for next-gen consoles could be affected by the coronavirus crisis.

There have been a few developers to confirm the arrival of their respective games on next-gen consoles, such as “Fortnite” and “Destiny 2.” However, there isn’t really much talk about titles specifically coming to PS5.
