  • DualSense, PS5's upcoming controller, is said to be incredibly powerful with its haptic feedback
  • According to recent revelations, players can feel raindrops in the game through the controller
  • DualSense will be released along PlayStation 5 in Holiday 2020

The upcoming controller for PlayStation 5 called DualSense has already been teased to use haptic feedback. However, it is only recently that gamers get a bigger perspective on the effect of the new feature.

According to recent revelations, the DualSense controller will reportedly allow players to feel the rain and weather in the game – which is undoubtedly a massive leap from the current generation of consoles and a huge plus for PS5.

The said claim was made by renowned video game designer and developer Mike Bithell in the recent “Play, Watch, Listen” podcast. While speaking with his co-host Austin Wintory, the “Thomas Was Alone” developer said that the music composer is “gonna love what they’re doing with the controller on PS5 … the DualSense stuff.”

Per Eggplante, Bithell went on to discuss that based on the demos he has seen so far, players will be able to feel the raindrops in games through haptic feedback. Moreover, feeling other environmental conditions is also not out of the question considering the big step that Sony has taken for PlayStation 5.

While not much more information has been revealed throughout the podcast, knowing the extent of haptic feedback is certainly exciting news for fans. After all, it has been over five years since the latest PlayStation controller – the DualShock 4 – has been released.

The power of the new controller is also fitting for PS5, which promises a lot of power and a whole new gaming experience.

Aside from haptic feedback, other key features of DualSense include a new create button and a built-in mic for chatting.

There aren’t much details about the create button, but it is expected to be an improved version of the share button on PS4. For what it’s worth, Sony said that it will be “pioneering new ways for players to create epic gameplay content.”

As for the built-in mic, it will allow players to chat with friends without a headset, thereby creating an even more holistic gaming experience. However, the said mic is reportedly not advisable for long use.

PlayStation 5, along with DualSense, is scheduled to be released some time in Holiday 2020.
