  • The gaming event will be available on YouTube and Twitch channel of PlayStation
  • PlayStation Showcase might feature third-party games

The highly anticipated PlayStation Showcase is happening Thursday and a lot of games releasing soon could make an appearance at the upcoming gaming event, including the potential launch of the first-ever trailer of "GTA 6."

While Sony announced the PlayStation Showcase last week, it did not divulge a lot of information about the 40-minute presentation. Aside from updates about its new-generation gaming console PS5, the Japanese gaming giant might also showcase a number of third-party games at the event.

At last year's PlayStation Showcase, Rockstar Games' new-generation "GTA 5: Enhanced Edition" led the show. This gives fans hope that the announcement and launch of the first-ever trailer of "GTA 6" could happen during this year's event.

Unfortunately, neither Sony nor Rockstar Games have said anything about the announcement of "GTA 6" at the PlayStation Showcase. In this case, the game's potential appearance at the show is nothing more than speculation or wishful thinking.

While the game's announcement could happen this year, it looks like its release is still a few years away. Over the weekend, reliable industry insider Tom Henderson provided the reveal and release window of "GTA 6" and the heavily rumored "GTA Trilogy Remastered."

"I doubt it. I think it's 2023. It seems like we are going to get GTA 5 [Expanded and Enhanced] this year, then next year we'll get an announcement for the Trilogy as well as a release for the trilogy," the insider claimed during a recent episode of the Gold Gold podcast.

"Then I'd expect 2023, we'd get the GTA 6 reveal and then like I just said, it wouldn't surprise me if we get some kind of delay with that as well. 2025 seems like the earliest we will get that released," Henderson added.

While some fans expect an announcement related to "God of War: Ragnarok" or a gameplay trailer to happen at the event, others look forward to hearing updates on "Horizon Forbidden West."

Sony may have a lot of surprises for fans but it also confirmed that it will not offer any information about the next generation PSVR at the presentation. The PlayStation Showcase is just a few hours away and soon enough, fans will know if "GTA 6" will be announced at Sony's gaming event.

It will be available on the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channel Thursday at 4 p.m. ET.
