Prince Charles becomes emotional as Prince William prepares to take over his role.

The Duke of Cambridge will be taking over Prince Charles’ role when the latter assumes the throne after Queen Elizabeth II’s death. Part of Prince William’s roles as the new Prince of Wales is managing the Duchy of Cornwall.

Prince Charles is the longest serving heir. He has been managing the Duchy of Cornwall estate for a number of decades already and he is aware that one day, he has to pass this responsibility to his eldest son. When asked about passing down the duchy to Prince William, the future king became emotional.

“I can’t believe it’s 50 years of this, because it doesn’t seem possible. Because of course, it’s a lifetime, completely,” Prince Charles said.

“Confronting your own mortality is a very good thing for you, if I may say so, it’s quite good for the soul. I couldn’t believe it. I was deeply touched and moved by what he [William] said. It practically reduced me to tears, it did really because I suddenly thought... well just hearing that from him, has made the last 50 years worthwhile.”

On the other hand, Prince William also confessed that he has already started thinking about inheriting the duchy and what he would do with it. In a previous interview, Prince William admitted that he is not as good as his father when it comes to farming. Kate Middleton’s husband added that his knowledge about farming is “tiny” but he assured farmers that he will not rock the boat and he will “do much the same as what my father’s doing.”

In related news, Prince William and Middleton’s Pakistan tour is considered a huge success. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge won the hearts of Pakistanis and royal fans during their official visit to the country. Royal expert Katie Nicholl even believed that they might receive a congratulatory letter from the Queen.

However, there was a time when their tour didn’t impress Prince Charles. When Prince William and Middleton visited Canada in 2011, months after their royal wedding, the Prince of Wales was reportedly upset because the couple was too focused on themselves instead of promoting their charity works.
