Prince Charles reportedly refused to replace or refurbish a damaged item for bizarre reasons.

Sky Royal reporter Rhiannon Mills revealed on Sky's "Behind the Headline" podcast some details of her interview with Prince Charles in 2015. According to her, there was one item in the garden room at Clarence House that the Prince of Wales still keeps even if it’s defective.

When Mills arrived, one staff approached her and warned her not to sit on the sofa. She asked if something was wrong with it, and the staff explained that there was a huge hole down the side of the sofa.

The staff added that he tried to persuade Prince Charles to replace the broken sofa several times, but the royal declined. Mills decided to just plunk up the cushion and hide the gap.

“And I thought, hang on a minute. This is the heir to the throne and he can’t be bothered to get his sofa repaired,” Mills shared.

“The Queen and Prince Charles, in particular, are seen as quite frugal,” the royal correspondent added.

Although Prince Charles is frugal, Tom Bower claimed in his book, “Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles,” that the heir has outrageous travel demands. Prince Charles reportedly once asked staff to move his entire bedroom to replace the perfectly appropriate fittings in the guest room where he would stay.

In addition, the second-in-line to the throne also reportedly brings along his lavatory seat, rolls of Kleenex Premium Comfort lavatory paper, whiskey and bottled water during trips. He also asked his staff to deliver organic food to his host.

On a daily basis, Prince Charles also has bizarre requests. For instance, he wanted his pajamas pressed every morning, as well as his shoelaces. He also wanted the bath plug to be in a certain position and the water temperature to be just tepid.

Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, also claimed that Prince Charles’ valet squeezes an inch of toothpaste onto his toothbrush every morning. In addition, the Prince of Wales apparently asks someone to do even the smallest things that he could do himself.

“Grown up in such a privileged lifestyle, he doesn't have the mechanics to choose for himself anymore,” Burrell said, adding that everything is done for Prince Charles.
