Prince Harry and Meghan Markle felt slighted when Prince Charles showed a sweet gesture toward Kate Middleton during the National Service of Thanksgiving earlier this month, according to a royal correspondent.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to the U.K. for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. They made their first public outing after they stepped down from their royal duties in 2020 at the St. Paul's Cathedral to attend the thanksgiving in honor of the Queen. Senior royals, including Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince William, Middleton and more, were also in attendance.

Neil Sean, a royal and entertainment reporter for NBC News, MSNBC and Access Hollywood, claimed on his YouTube channel that he heard from a good source that something happened while in the cathedral. It reportedly had something to do with Prince Charles' sweet gesture toward the Duchess of Cambridge, which didn't sit well with the Sussexes.

"When Prince Charles entered the cathedral and bent over and blew a kiss to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, you've no idea what he started," he said.

Sean pointed out that it was a "very public gesture" by the future king, and he "was basically saying thank you for everything in front of the world." The royal commentator complimented Middleton for being supportive. He also acknowledged how close Prince William's father and his wife were when they attended the premiere of "No Time to Die" in September.

"There's really a close bond there," Sean said about Middleton and Prince Charles' relationship.

"Prince Harry and Meghan Markle allegedly feel being totally ignored because according to them and their people that was a very public display that proves exactly where Prince Charles' allegiance lie," Sean continued.

However, he noted that the Prince of Wales is very "gentleman" and "old school." In his personal opinion, there was nothing behind the heir apparent's gesture toward his daughter-in-law, Middleton. But he heard it was an issue in Prince Harry and Markle's world.

Sean quoted a "very good source" who told him, "Harry and Meghan now feel very slighted by what Prince Charles did in the cathedral." Some also said it was "the biggest insult they received since they departed" from the royal family.

While Sean wasn't sure about the report from his source, he noted that the royal family is "entitled to react in any way that they wish after what went before," referring to Prince Harry and Markle's TV interview where they accused the royal family of being racist. Prince Harry also seemingly insulted Prince Charles' parenting and even claimed that his brother and father were trapped in the system.

Sean said Prince Charles' gesture was "an off-the-cuff thing," and he probably never thought about it because the Cambridges were already right in front of him.
