Singer-songwriter Shaggy has revealed that Prince Harry seems to be a fan of his music that the royal even sang “It Wasn’t Me” when they met each other for the first time.

In an interview with The Guardian’s Observer magazine, the 51-year-old musician noted that he met the Duke of Sussex in Jamaica and at the time, Princess Diana’s son sang his own version of “It Wasn’t Me” to him. He also opened up about Harry’s visit to the Bustamante Hospital for Children and how his daughter was not impressed by the member of the Royal family.

The “Sexy Lady” hitmaker shared that his daughter actually thought that Harry would come on a “horse” to meet everyone because that’s how a prince would show up in her “storybook.”

“When Prince Harry came to Jamaica he came to visit the Bustamante Hospital for Children. My daughter thought he was supposed to be a prince on a horse, like in her storybook. He turned to me and said, ‘Wow, she is just so not impressed’, and then he sang, ‘It Wasn’t Me’. So Prince Harry is a Shaggy fan!” Observer quoted Shaggy, as saying.

The song is about a man who was caught cheating on his girlfriend. The single was released in 2001 and became a blockbuster hit in the United Kingdom. The song also reached number one on the U.K. Singles Chart on March 4, 2001, and it was also nominated for a Grammy.

The Grammy award-winning artist also spoke about playing at Queen Elizabeth’s 92nd birthday party at the Royal Albert Hall, and he hopes that the Queen is also a fan of his music.

“I'd like to think that the Queen is a big Shaggy fan. I played at her 92nd birthday party at the Royal Albert Hall. Afterward, I was standing right beside her. It would have been crazy if she was like, 'Hello, Mr. Boombastic,’” Shaggy told the publication.

This is not the first time that Prince Harry has shown his musical prowess in front of an artist. In February, the official Instagram account of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex uploaded a video in which Harry can be seen in the recording studio preparing to sing a song with Jon Bon Jovi.

The Rolling Stone reported that a track named “Unbroken” was released in March by Bon Jovi and it featured the Duke’s vocals. All the money earned through the song will directly go to the Invictus Games Foundation.

The foundation is responsible for the recovery and rehabilitation of injured, wounded, or sick military personnel.
