KEY POINTS

  • Prince George's photo became the last straw for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
  • Prince Harry shouldn't have been affected by Prince George's photo with the heirs
  • Prince Harry has always known that he's the spare and not the heir

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step back from their royal duties was reportedly triggered after they saw a photo of Prince George with Queen Elizabeth and the other heirs to the throne.

A source told The Sun that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex realized that there was no reason for them to hang around because they will never have an important role like Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George.

But royal expert Phil Dampier told New Idea that the Sussexes, particularly Prince Harry, had no reason to feel this way. After all, he had always known that he’s not the heir but the spare.

Dampier also said that Prince Harry and Markle could no longer change their minds after they made the announcement. And this is unlikely to happen according to bookmakers Paddy Power.

The odds for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to rejoin the royal family in the near future are at 14/1.

Meanwhile, Dampier also talked about Prince Harry and Markle’s future jobs now that they will no longer be dependent on public funds. The royal expert said that Prince Harry inherited a huge sum of money from Princess Diana, and Markle could return to her acting career.

But one of the things that Prince Harry and Markle said that is being questioned by the royal expert has to do with their desire to continue supporting the Queen. However, the royal couple also said that they will be living in North America and the United Kingdom.

“How can he carry on with royal duties and support the Queen when he is living in Canada? How will taxpayers put up with paying for their security and lifestyle if they are not giving anything back in terms of royal duties?” he said.

In related news, Markle also made headlines this week after she was photographed for the first time since her bombshell exit. The Duchess of Sussex is in Canada with her son, Archie.
