Prince Philip reportedly favored Princess Anne over Prince Charles due to shocking reason.

Royal biographer Gyles Brandreth claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh has always been aware that he and Prince Charles are polar opposites. Prince Philip also described himself as a pragmatist, while Prince Charles is a romantic.

“That means we do see things differently. And because I don’t see things as a romantic would, I’m unfeeling,” he said.

Victoria Arbiter, a royal biographer, also said in the podcast “A Defiant Prince” that Prince Philip is not a very patient man, but he is very practical. As such, Prince Philip was much closer to Princess Anne because she was rough.

“As a child, he was incredibly sensitive, whereas Princess Anne was rough and tumble. She was up for anything, so Philip and Anne really have always shared a lovely relationship… As she grew, that bond only seemed to become stronger, with Philip supporting his daughter as she developed a love of horses that eventually developed into a professional career,” Arbiter said.

And Penny Junor, a royal biographer, also said in the documentary “The Madness of Prince Charles” that Prince Philip wanted a man’s man or a tough little boy. Even though Princess Anne is a woman, she was tough and Prince Philip liked that about her.

In related news, Princess Anne and Prince Charles also made headlines recently after it was revealed that they were able to do something with the help of their late aunt Princess Margaret.

The royal siblings, including Prince Andrew, managed to get a divorce from their respective spouses after Princess Margaret made divorce an acceptable thing in the royal family.

Prince Charles was previously married to Princess Diana, but they separated 11 years after they tied the knot. Four years later, Prince Charles and Princess Diana finalized their divorce. Prince Charles eventually married Camilla Parker Bowles.

Princess Anne also divorced Mark Phillips, and she married Timothy Laurence years later. Prince Andrew divorced from Sarah Ferguson in 1996.
