Prince Philip and Sarah Ferguson had a falling out decades ago. And until today, their relationship hasn’t been fixed.

Kenneth Rose wrote in his private journal details of his conversation with the Duchess of York. During their previous meeting, the mom of two told Rose that she regularly writes letters to Prince Andrew whenever he’s away.

The Duchess of York also said that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have written letters to her but their contents couldn’t be more different. In the Duke of Edinburgh’s letter, he told Ferguson that she has let down The Firm.

This is due to Ferguson’s toe-sucking scandal with John Bryan, as well as her financial problems. Ferguson also told Rose that the retired royal compared her to Edwina Mountbatten because her conduct reminded her of his late relative.

Years later, the correspondence between Prince Philip and Ferguson ended, and they stopped talking. But according to Express, there was another moment wherein the dad of four threw major shade at his former daughter-in-law.

While at the Royal Ascot years ago, the Duke saw Fergie and he threw him major shade. As his carriage moved forward, Prince Philip turned his head around to look at Prince Andrew’s ex-wife once again. The Queen’s husband reportedly gave Fergie a visible double-take before asking what she was doing there.

According to the Daily Beast, Prince Charles and Prince William share the same stand with Prince Philip when it comes to Ferguson. The Duke of Edinburgh even went as far as not inviting his aunt to his royal wedding.

Meanwhile, Ferguson isn’t the only person that Prince Philip wrote letters to. Years ago, he showed his love and support to Princess Diana via his handwritten notes. Prince Philip also seemingly threw shade at Camilla Parker Bowles.

“We never dreamed he might feel like leaving you for her. I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind leaving you for Camilla. Such a prospect never even entered our heads,” he wrote.
