Prince William and Kate Middleton’s future role as king and queen will be quite different from Queen Elizabeth’s position in the British monarchy. Unlike Her Majesty, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s future role is not a God-given right.

In the documentary “Kate: The Making of A Modern Queen,” royal expert Katie Nicholl said that that the royal couple would have to justify their future position in the British monarchy.

“I think the royal family is in a very unique position in that you know the Queen is on the throne because it was her God-given right. But I think that is now seen as quite an antiquated concept… I think certainly if we’re looking into the future towards King Willian and Queen Catherine, it’s not going to be seen as a God-given right,” she said.

The royal expert also said that it is Prince William and Middleton’s responsibility to be the king and queen of the people. In the coming years, the image that the royal couple will be cultivating will become very important because this would reflect the public’s opinion of them.

Throughout her reign as the head of the monarchy, the Queen earned the respect of royal fans and politicians because she never took her role for granted. In fact, even at the age of 93, Her Majesty has not shown signs that she’s slowing down.

During her coronation decades ago, the Queen vowed to serve her country and her people until her death. Today, the monarch is living up to her promise. According to royal experts, the only time that the Queen would give up the throne is when she dies. But until this happens and as long as she’s able, she will never abdicate.

Meanwhile, before Prince William and Middleton could take over the throne, they would still have to wait until after Prince Charles passes away or abdicates as the future king of Britain.
