Prince William and Prince George are next in line to the throne, but there are still possibilities that they will be disqualified from taking over the throne.

According to Amalie Henden of Express, the Duke of Cambridge and his son, Prince George, as well as the other royals, could lose their claims to the throne for one controversial rule. The succession is regulated not only through descent but by the Parliamentary statute, too.

The basis of succession was determined in the constitutional development of the 17th century which culminated in the Bill of Rights (1689) and the Act of Settlement (1701).

It stated that “Roman Catholic is specifically excluded from succession to the throne.” The members of the royal family are members of the Church of England which is a Protestant Anglican church. They have been part of this religion since 16th century.

Aside from being a member of the Church of England, the sovereign must “swear to preserve the established Church of England and the established Church of Scotland.” The sovereign should also commit himself in upholding the Protestant succession.

Prince William and Kate Middleton haven’t told Prince George about his future role. According to the Duke of Cambridge, they don’t feel that it’s time yet.

“There’ll be a time and place to bring George up and understand how he fits in, in the world. But right now it’s just a case of keeping a secure, stable environment around him and showing as much love as I can as a father,” Prince William told BBC.

Prince William said that they are a “normal family.” He was hoping that his children would see him how much he loves them.

“I love my children in the same way any father does, and I hope George loves me the same way any son does to his father,” the second-in-line to the throne added.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly in Mustique to for their summer holidays because it’s Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s term break. Also, Prince George will be celebrating his 6th birthday on Monday. The family love the island because it is incredibly private and discreet but not remote.
