Prince William previously shunned Kate Middleton and the idea of marrying her – or anyone – during one of his interviews.

In the book “The Making of a Royal Romance” by Katie Nicholl, it was revealed that the future King once denied any suggestion that he would wed Middleton anytime soon.

When he was just 22 years old, he was asked about settling down, and he said, “Look, I’m only 22 for God’s sake. I’m too young to marry at my age. I don’t want to get married until I am at least 28 or maybe 30.”

Prince William also thought that Prince Harry would tie the knot before him, but this didn’t happen because the latter just wed Meghan Markle this year.

“If it hurt Kate when William hinted that his younger brother Harry was more likely to tie the knot before they would, she didn’t show it,” Nicholl said.

The expert also claimed that Middleton previously insisted that she was not in a hurry to tie the knot with Prince William. However, Nicholl said that it was evident she was longing for security years ago.

But Prince William also had reservations because he was completely aware of the circumstance his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, were in when they tied the knot.

“He was aware his father had been pressured into marrying Diana because she was deemed the suitable bride. He was reluctant to bow to similar pressure and vowed not to be hurried at the altar. He made his feelings clear, telling a journalist in an off-guard moment that he had no plans of getting married any time soon,” Nicholl said.

When Prince William and Middleton tied the knot, they were both 29 years old. This means that the second in line to the throne fulfilled his desire of not getting married at a very young age.

Two years after their wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their first child, Prince George. Middleton gave birth to Princess Charlotte in 2015 and to Prince Louis this year.
