Princess Diana was disappointed after marrying Prince Charles.

The Prince and late Princess of Wales’ royal wedding was like a fairytale. But their married life didn’t turn out the same way.

Princess Diana’s former royal butler Paul Burrell revealed in the 2017 Amazon Prime documentary “The Diana Story” how the People’s Princess found her “prince” on her wedding day and how things quickly changed after they exchanged vows.

“Years later she said to me, ‘Well yes I kissed frog, I found a toad. That was my story,’” Burrell said. “She did fall in love with him and those two boys are born out of love.”

“I saw correspondence from the princess to the Queen that said how happy she was,” he added. “The first five years of the princess’ marriage she felt that she could make it work.”

Princess Diana revealed in an interview that their marriage was difficult since “there were three of us,” suggesting that she was aware about Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles’ affair. Years after the princess’ tragic accident, the Prince of Wales and Camilla got married.

According to Burrell, Princess Diana also told him that she was suspecting Prince Charles of plotting an automobile accident to kill her. The Princess of Wales believed that the future king wanted her dead so he could marry the Duchess of Cornwall.

“Her words were 'these next few months, are the most difficult months of my life. I fear my husband is going to kill me. In an automobile accident. With head injuries. In order that he can remarry,” Burrell recalled. “That is spooky. She predicted her own death nine months before she died.”

According to Robert Lacey, if there’s someone to blame for Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s failed marriage it would be the former because he was already emotionally committed to another woman, Camilla.

Meanwhile, Robert Jobson felt that their marriage simply didn’t work because Prince Charles and Princess Diana were not suited as a couple. He added that the heir knew this from the start.

“They just were not suited. He [Prince Charles] knew they were not suited,” the royal expert said.
