Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, Camilla Parker Bowles and the other members of the royal family have all looked somber and emotional in public. Let us look back on some of their most emotional moments in a photo compilation.

Years ago, Princess Diana visited Ashworth Hospice in Liverpool in her blue long-sleeved pleated dress. After meeting some of the people in the hospice, Princess Diana couldn’t hold back her tears. The empathetic princess broke down after her engagement.

In 2014, Middleton attended a launch event for East Anglia Children’s Hospices charity. The Duchess of Cambridge, who was 4 months pregnant with Princess Charlotte at that time, was photographed wiping away the tears from her eyes after leaving the facility.

While at the hospice, Middleton spoke with Leigh Smith, whom she has been corresponding with ever since the mom lost her 3-month-old baby Beatrice due to a heart condition.

“Kate gave me a hug just before she left. I was getting quite teary-eyed, she had tears in her eyes and she just said to me, ‘You’re a very brave lady and again, I’m just so, so sorry,’” Leigh said.

Two years ago, Camilla visited the SafeLives Center in London and spoke to the victims of domestic abuse. Prince Charles’ wife also listened to the story of Diana Parkes, whose daughter Joanna Brown was murdered by husband Robert. During the visit, Camilla was photographed trying to control the tears in her eyes from falling.

Queen Elizabeth II also welled up in 2002 during the Remembrance Sunday. At the time, she visited the Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey. She also teared up in 1997 after her beloved yacht Britannia was decommissioned.

The Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne, was also there. And she was seen wiping a tear while watching the ceremony.

And in 1990, a young Prince William was comforted by Princess Diana during a sports day in Richmond. Middleton did a similar thing for Prince George and Princess Charlotte when they both cried in public during two separate occasions.

Prince George cried during last summer’s polo outing, while Princess Charlotte became emotional after she fell from a stool during the Trooping the Colour.
