Princess Diana and Prince Charles have been photographed in public a thousand times during their 11-year marriage. But it is very seldom to see the couple in a loved-up display.

In an unearthed photo, the Prince and Princess of Wales are attending an engagement together. They are sitting beside each other, but there are a few inches between them.

Princess Diana is wearing a red polka-dotted dress, which she paired with her pearl earrings and red shoes. Prince Charles, on the other hand, is wearing his signature suit and tie.

Even though Prince Charles and Princess Diana both have huge smiles on their faces, it is evident that they are not that close. The mom of two’s hands is clasped on top of her thighs, and she’s looking past her husband. Prince Charles is smiling and looking directly into the camera.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s photo was taken shortly before they separated in 1992. As such, it is evident that there is tension between them in the photograph. But even if this was the case, some royal fans said that the couple still looked good together.

“They look good together. If only things turned out differently. Rest in peace Princess Diana,” the royal fan wrote.

However, more people criticized Prince Charles and they also showed compassion for Princess Diana.

“I do not know how this man will ever become King,” one royal fan wrote. “This angel was never happy in her marriage life,” another royal fan wrote.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s separation ended in divorce in 1996. Queen Elizabeth urged the couple to legally end their marriage after she heard the Princess of Wales’ interview with Martin Bashir for Panorama.

Less than a year later, Princess Diana passed away in a fatal car crash in Paris. At that time, she was with her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed, and he also passed away in the crash.
