Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided they will not announce the birth of the royal baby until they have had private time to bond. However, it appears the couple could have based that decision on Princess Diana’s painful experience with Prince William.

Following the birth of a royal baby, the parents and newborn typically greet photographers outside of the hospital. The moment gives paparazzi the opportunity to take photos of the newest member of the royal family.

Princess Diana and Kate Middleton both participated in these traditions, but Meghan chose to follow a different route.

According to the Mirror UK, the Duchess of Sussex may have chosen to keep her baby’s birth private due to the painful expectations that come following the delivery. While past couples who have done the photocall appear to be in great spirits, Princess Diana previously revealed it was a painful experience.

In the book, “Call Me Diana,” author Nigel Cawthorne shared the Princess of Wales’ account of the moment she appeared in front of cameras in 1982, after giving birth to Prince Williams.

“When I left the hospital, I could barely put one foot in front of the other. My stitches were killing me. It was such a strain to stand there and smile even just for a few minutes,” she explained.

Although she put on a brave face, Diana was in agony. “As soon as the car disappeared around the corner out of sight of the photographers, I burst into tears.”

Harry and Meghan reportedly want their child to have a normal life, but royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah claimed it wasn’t possible. The commentator previously told “The Royal Rota” that the amount of attention the royal family receives won’t allow the baby to have much privacy.

“I think you’ve got to be realistic. When you are a global mega-star like Harry is, yes, of course, you want to give your child as normal a life as possible but actually, what does that mean? That child is probably going to have a life very different to most children,” she said.

Meghan and Prince Harry have confirmed they will welcome their first child in spring 2019, however, the couple has not shared the exact due date.
