“Quantico” Season 1 returned with plenty of surprises on Sunday, and the twists are going to keep coming. In episode 13, titled “Clear,” the future timeline will pick up right after a terrorist strapped a bomb to Natalie (Anabelle Acosta). Alex (Priyanka Chopra) will be forced to work for the terrorist, something that Quantico may not have been able to prepare her for. In the ABC drama’s present day timeline, the NATs will learn that it’s difficult to apply their lessons in training to real-life cases.

It looks like the NATs will get a chance to leave campus this week for an assignment. However, it seems like their mission won’t go much better than last week’s competition against the older class. Alex and her fellow agents will “learn how to source information from confidential informants, but when they test their skills in the real world, they soon realize being an agent is not as easy as it seems,” the episode 13 synopsis reveals.

The situation will be much more dangerous in the future timeline. “Alex and a fellow agent find themselves in a life or death situation when they are forced to provide classified information that could result in deadly consequences,” the summary teases.

Viewers already know that it’s Natalie who is rigged with explosives. They have to do as the terrorists say if they want to survive, but they might not be able to do exactly what the villains want. The promo video for episode 13 reveals that one agent will be dead by the end of the hour.

Though the episode looks intense, showrunner Josh Safran said there will be some comic relief too. “It is both simultaneously one of the most fun episodes we’ve done because the Quantico storyline has a lot of humor and a really fun case that they have to work on,” Safran told Entertainment Weekly. “And in the future, it’s one of the roughest episodes, because Alex and Vasquez are forced to cross a line that they don’t want to cross. It’s tough on both of them.”

The press release for this episode also notes some interesting guest stars. The new NATS, Drew (Lenny Platt), Iris (Li Jun Li) and Will (Jay Armstrong Johnston), will return, and so will Ryan’s (Jake McLaughlin) ex-wife. Hannah (Eliza Coupe) was introduced in a fall episode where she and Ryan had to go undercover as a married couple. Will she appear in the Quantico timeline to tell Alex more about Ryan’s feelings for her or will she appear in the future plotline for the first time?

“Quantico” Season 1, episode 13, titled “Clear,” airs Sunday, March 13, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
