Queen Elizabeth II sees something in Meghan Markle that could be beneficial to the monarchy.

In the documentary entitled “Meghan’s New Life: The Real Princess Diaries,” ABC royals contributor Imogen Lloyd Webber shared some details about the two royals’ connection. According to her, the Queen is smart and she’s seeing a potential in the Duchess of Sussex that could be an advantage to the royal family.

“The Queen is incredibly smart,” Webber said. “The Queen sees Meghan as a very useful tool in securing and symbolising the future of the monarchy for decades to come.”

Queen Elizabeth II quickly immersed Markle into the royal life following her royal wedding to Prince Harry. In fact, the monarch invited the former actress to accompany her during her visit to Chester just weeks after Markle and Prince Harry exchanged “I dos.”

The Queen and the duchess took the royal train together overnight. It was a privilege that Kate Middleton never got to enjoy thus far. Only the senior royals are allowed to ride in the nine-carriage private train like Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles. Prince William and Prince Harry never had the chance to travel in it at the time.

During their first solo outing, the Queen and Markle looked very comfortable. Her Majesty was reportedly very supportive of the American actress especially when it comes to her family issues with her dad.

However, according to some insiders, there were tensions during the said engagement. The Duchess of Sussex was told by the Queen’s aide that the 92-year-old royal would be wearing a hat. Markle didn’t expect that she was also supposed to wear one.

When Markle showed up without a hat, Queen Elizabeth II was “a little baffled.” Royal expert Robert Jobson believed that Markle didn’t fully understand what the Queen’s aides meant. He explained that it was not just to inform her, it was also not a request but an order for her to follow.

Queen Elizabeth II will be reducing her workload in the coming years. According to reports, she will be giving Markle her first patronage. The pregnant royal’s new role will be announced in February.
