Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan Markle had some tension during their first outing together.

Hannah Paine, a journalist for News.com.au, claimed that although the monarch and Duchess of Sussex appeared like best friends when they stepped out together in Chester, something wasn't right. There was actually some tension between the two royals because Markle didn't follow the monarch's instructions.

The Duchess of Sussex reportedly disregarded Her Majesty's demand. Markle was told by the Queen's aides that the 92-year-old monarch would be wearing a hat. Markle didn't know that she was also expected to wear one. So, she left the Queen "a little baffled" when she showed up without a hat.

"I don’t think the Duchess fully understood," a senior figure close to the Queen told Robert Jobson. "This was not a request. They are for others to make, not the Queen."

The biographer added that the Queen's staff "duly noted" Markle's "lack of respect."

A number of body language experts have also shared their opinions regarding Markle and Queen Elizabeth II's interactions and behavior. "It's touching to see the very confident new royal bride looking sweet and rather nervous here on her first solo outing with the Queen," Judi James said about Markle.

"A little tension in her left hand with both shoulders slightly raised shows a little nervousness here - a clear desire to get this right. I suspect we would all behave in the same way in this situation," Robin Kermode, body language and founder of communications consultancy Zone2.co.uk, said.

"Meghan has opted for the clutch bag rather than copying the iconic arm handbag hold of the Queen. Once again, she is aware of how her collar is sitting," he added. "This causes a little tension in her right hand and a slight arch of the back. The Queen seems unconcerned with her clothes or how they sit. But, of course, she has had many years to get used to this."

Despite the tension, the two royals have remained close and their relationship was cemented by their shared love for dogs.

In related news, Markle and Prince Harry are already on the last leg of their Commonwealth tour. The couple is in New Zealand where the pregnant royal mom was seen flashing her thighs upon arrival in an affordable ASOS's maternity "Wiggle Dress."
