Queen Elizabeth II reportedly received a very weird gift after her wedding to Prince Philip.

In the documentary “The Majestic Life of Queen Elizabeth II,” it was revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh and Her Majesty received approximately 1,700 gifts after they tied the knot. While some of the gifts were addressed to the newlyweds, there were also some presents that were specifically given to the monarch.

Royal biographer Robert Lacey said that several of the wedding presents were nylon stockings for Her Majesty. This choice of gift may initially seem odd, but there was a reason why royal fans gave the monarch stockings as a gift. In 1941, clothing was rationed during the war. This meant that various products, including tights, became valuable commodities.

Meanwhile, nylon stockings weren’t the only fashion items that the royals received after their wedding. Mahatma Gandhi sent the royal couple a hand-spun piece of cloth lace. The garment was embroidered with the words Jai Hind, which means Victory for India.

Other wedding presents included handbags, food and drinks.

“A box of apples, 500 tins of pineapple, two dozen handbags, and 12 bottles of sole gin were also officially listed as their gifts,” the narrator said.

In related news, the Queen also made headlines this week after it was reported that she grew increasingly aware of Prince William’s bad behavior while he was growing up.

Katie Nicholl said in the book “William and Harry” that Her Majesty noticed Prince William had become quite a handful when he was a little kid.

“Meal times were an ordeal and would frequently end up with William throwing his supper across the table and being banished to the nursery by his exasperated parents,” Nicholl said.

Meanwhile, there is also one thing that Her Majesty couldn’t bear to be without ever after 50 years. Her Majesty has reportedly used the same black Launer handbag for five decades. The Queen awarded Launer the Royal Warrant in 1968 and the brand has since made different types of bags for the monarch.
