Queen Elizabeth II reportedly loves to gossip, too.

According to Ingrid Seward in her book “Prince Edward: A Biography,” the royal staff experienced the “most welcome change from the strict formality” of Buckingham Palace when they joined Queen Elizabeth in her annual three-month vacation in Balmoral during Her Majesty’s summer holiday.

The Queen reportedly brought an entourage of maids, footmen, butlers, pages and chefs for the said trip. Queen Elizabeth II announced that Balmoral has to be run as “informally as is regally possible.”

Seward said that a number of the Queen’s household staff were homosexuals and she took a tolerant view about her employees’ sexual orientations. When the royals who accompanied the Queen left, the monarch allowed her staff to do whatever they wanted.

The could swim in the locks, take long walks in the woods and hold barbecues on their own. They also had their own social club where they danced and partied regularly. In addition, the staff “enjoy their holiday flings, of different kinds, each according to his or her taste, and much to the Queen’s fascination.”

“She does not express disapproval but instead takes a lively interest in the romantics comings and goings of her staff,” Seward said before adding that there is very little that the Queen does not know about her staff and she doesn’t mind it. In fact, she enjoys it.

“A good gossip is a wonderful tonic,” Queen Elizabeth II reportedly said it to herself once.

In related news, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly turned to Kate Middleton regarding her concerns about Meghan Markle. The monarch is upset that she has to spend her twilight years mopping up the appalling headlines due to Markle’s move to play with the U.S. press.

The Windsors have faced unprecedented public backlash due to Prince Harry’s wife “recklessly toying” the royal family’s reputation. When the Queen confided to the Duchess of Cambridge, the latter assured the former to not worry about the issue.

Queen Elizabeth II and Middleton have become allies over the years. Prior to Middleton and Prince William’s royal wedding, the monarch expressed her concerns about the duchess’ lack of full-time job and partying habits. Apparently, the issue had been sorted out and their relationship had never been closer.
