KEY POINTS

  • "Rainbow Six Mobile" is a competitive 5vs5 game based on "Rainbow Six Siege"
  • The game is being developed by an independent team in Ubisoft Montreal
  • "Rainbow Six Mobile" will share many similarities with its PC counterpart

Popular competitive tactical shooter “Rainbow Six Siege” is officially coming to mobile phones soon following an announcement from the developers.

According to Ubisoft, it is developing the mobile version of “Rainbow Six Siege” under the name “Rainbow Six Mobile,” which it will release for Android and Apple devices on Google Play and the Apple Store, respectively. The project has been in development for over three years in Ubisoft Montreal.

A totally unique team of developers is working on “Rainbow Six Mobile” in the same offices as those of the larger “Rainbow Six Siege” team. However, the developers emphasized that development for the original game will be unhindered despite the additional project.

“Rainbow Six Mobile” will be a competitive 5vs5 shooter like its bigger counterpart. It will feature the same maps, game modes and operators as “Rainbow Six Siege,” but players can expect a few bespoke differences here and there.

According to the developers, “Rainbow Six Mobile” is not meant to replace “Siege.” Instead, they want players to enjoy the same tactical gameplay in the palm of their hands but in “smaller bursts.”

So far, minimum phone system requirements have not yet been revealed.

Ubisoft has not yet revealed an actual release date for “Rainbow Six Mobile,” but it did announce that a series of live tests will begin soon. Interested players can sign up for the tests via the official website. However, keep in mind that signing up will not guarantee access to the game.
