Ever since 2020, working from home has become a norm, giving excuses to countless office workers to upgrade their home office set up with some new gear. For those who want a good reason to get their fingertips on Razer's mechanical keyboards can now do so proudly with the peripheral maker's new Pro series. Let's dive right in to how the Pro Type and Pro Click perform as the main peripherals in the daily workflow.

New Razer Professional Look

The Pro Type and Pro Click is a new look for Razer, as it abandons the signature black and green palette for a matte white and grey/aluminum combo. Even the RGB lighting is forgone for monochromic white to convince anyone looking at your new peripherals that you're all business.

The Pro Type has an anodized aluminum top plate that not only looks great and would fit in any Apple Mac setups, it also provides sturdiness and a premium build that lifts the overall set up with a classy look.

The Pro Click on the other hand has a metallic knurled wheel on a matte white top, sandwiched between grey textured rubber sides and a metallic lining on its base edge. Aside from being a perfect companion to the Pro Type, the Pro Click stands out as a unique mouse that departs from the usual Razer aesthetics and opens up a new dimension for the company's mouse portfolio.

Pro Click's Superb Ergonomics with Humanscale Input

The ergonomics of the Pro Click is worth a special mention as Razer teamed up with Humanscale - a designer and manufacturer of ergonomic workstations to create the productivity-centric wireless mouse.

It has an oversized design, and best suited for a palm grip with the back contour supporting most of the weight of the hand. There is an overall slant that allows my hands to be angled identically to the resting position on the keyboard, and makes it very quick and easy to switch between the two. The design allows for all day use of the mouse with minimal fatigue as well as a very comfortable experience every time you put your hands on it.

One small detail that we were impressed with was the angle that the design team put onto the scroll wheel, which takes off the rotating stress on the index finger while operating it, and it really shows the dedication the team put in to make the Pro Click the most comfortable mouse to use.

Scroll Wheel Tilt Implementation that Should be Available on All Mice

While using the Pro Click mouse, I was pleasantly surprised by an implementation of the tilt of the scroll wheel that I soon couldn't live without. When tilting the Pro Click scroll wheel left and right, you get this instantaneous, rapid and continuous scroll up or down, and I wish all other mice would also include at least as an mapping option.

It differs from pressing scroll up and down keys on your keyboard as it reacts instantly without a pause after pressing it, and it differs from just scrolling up and down because it's infinite and continuous. It's one of the fastest ways to get to the top or bottom of the page - even faster than Logitech's free spin wheels. It's very addictive especially for those dealing with large PDF files or websites with infinite scroll.

Dual Connectivity and Magnetic Dongle Holders

Both the Pro Click and Pro Type are rechargeable and can be used with the included dongle as well as Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. Those who have used Razer's wireless connectivity system before will be familiar with how reliable they are, and the Pro series are no exception. The connections are fast and reliable.

A nice little touch with both the Pro Click and the Pro Type is that they are made to hold their dongles, with the Pro Click using a more standard capped enclosure, and the Pro Type using a convenient magnetic slot that secures the dongle in place.

Accessories Recommended: Wrist Rest and Pro Glide

With both the Pro Type and Pro Click, there are accessories that I wholehearted recommend investing in that elevates the user experience significantly.

img

For the Pro Type, due to its mechanical keys and the resulting elevation, I recommend the Razer Ergonomic Wrist Rest Pro. The Razer wrist rest matches the width of the keyboard exactly and brings the height of the hands to the perfect level, allowing me to type faster and longer without feeling fatigue.

The only regrettable thing is that the wrist rests do not yet come in white, so for those who are OCD about their desk setup color scheme might need to go with a dark colored table top or mat to match.

img

For the Pro Click, Razer released the Pro Glide mouse pad which unlike the wrist rest does match the Pro color motif and comes in a grey that perfectly frames the Pro Click. The pad is very generous in size and is made with a high density rubber that provides great grip to make sure it stays put, while also giving some cushioning effect for the base of the palm.

img

The only thing to watch out for with the Pro Glide is that the grey fabric surface can easily get stained due to its light color, so you might want to keep your coke and Cheetos far away from this mousing area as possible.

Final Verdict

The Razer Pro Type and Pro Click brings high performance peripherals made for demanding gamers to the office desk, and does it in style. We're big fans of the white and grey aesthetics as well as the premium build of both products that adds class to the work space.

The ergonomics on the Pro Click is especially noteworthy, which through our test we have found to be very comfortable to use, even for long work sessions. The tilt rapid scroll is an instant hit with us, and became a new staple navigation gesture that we want to see used more broadly. For the innovations found in the Razer Pro Click, we are awarding it with our Staff Pick Productivity Mouse badge.
