The official preview trailer for "Re:Zero - Starting Life In Another World" Season 2, Episode 8 hints Ram, Otto and Subaru plan their next move in the forest. Otto wants Subaru to break the barrier and move out.

However, the preview trailer teases the arrival of angry Garfiel. The scene is likely about Garfiel learning Subaru's escape. It remains to be seen how he tracked them down.

In the trailer, Garfiel is shown powering up to attack Ram, Subaru and Otto. Toward the end of the clip, Otto is seen carrying Subaru and running away from Garfiel.

Meanwhile, in the last episode of "Re:Zero - Starting Life In Another World" Season 2, after Elsa’s killing spree at Roswaal’s mansion, Subaru tries to kill himself to activate his Return by Death ability to fix things. However, Beatrice, his savior, stops him with her own powers. During the episode, Subaru learns Beatrice has links to the Witch’s Cult. They engage in a heated conversation, which is interrupted after Elsa barges inside the library.

Elsa kills Subaru again and he returns to the graveyard where Emilia is struggling with her trials.
