One of Alex Rodriguez’s ex-girlfriends is allegedly threatening to “expose private messages” unless he pays her $600,000, according to a TMZ report on Tuesday.

The woman in question is unnamed, but the report states she and Rodriguez broke up in 2014. Although they only briefly dated, she has reportedly contacted him throughout the years, asking for small sums of money. The threats to expose the messages have intensified since A-Rod was linked to Jennifer Lopez in March, with Rodriguez’s ex-girlfriend asking for larger sums of money.

Last week, the former Yankees player told the woman he refuses to pay the $600,000 she is requesting. A source with “direct knowledge” believes the woman planned to release her old messages with Rodriguez and have it appear that he was still contacting her while dating Lopez, says the TMZ report.

These extortion rumors have simultaneously surfaced with cheating rumors. A woman named Lauren Hunter has come forward claiming she is Rodriguez's mistress, according to the National Enquirer. It should be noted, however, that the National Enquirer isn't known for being a beacon of truth.

Rodriguez’s legal team is preparing to go to the police and even the federal authorities if the woman continues harassing him. Jennifer Lopez is aware of the situation, and has reportedly been understanding, having formerly gone through a similar ordeal. In 2009, Lopez sued her ex-husband Ojani Noa for trying to release a movie about their relationship. He was also attempting to release previously unseen home video footage. Lopez claims these attempts would have violated a confidentiality agreement the two had previously signed.
