Samsung has finally decided to bring Calendar stickers to last year’s flagship devices, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. The stickers were previously exclusive to the Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices that were launched earlier this year.

On Monday, XDA-Developers discovered that the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 handsets are getting an update that will add support to stickers in the Calendar app. The feature is said to come in handy when users want to put creative marks on their calendar events.

The app update will come with a number of stickers. There’s a balloon emoji that can be used when marking a birthday. There’s also a heart sticker that can be used when marking romantic milestones like wedding anniversaries. These stickers will appear the moment users launch the Calendar app. This way’s it’s easy for them to take note of upcoming special occasions.

Though it’s a very minimal addition to the app in terms of functionality, it will help users remember what’s happening on a specific day without even checking the in-depth notes for that day. It also adds a bit of an advantage over its rivals on the market.

Older Samsung devices that came with the S Planner app have long been given access to a similar feature. Their owners got to set a sticker for a particular day just like what the updated Samsung Calendar app will do when it arrives on the Galaxy S8 and Note 8, according to SamMobile.

No exact date of the rollout was given. However, users can expect to see the update to the Samsung Calendar app of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 soon through the Galaxy Apps store. Users are also encouraged to check if they have enabled automatic updates, so they are sure to get a notification about the Calendar update when it arrives.

Samsung has been hard at work in bringing the new features and tweaks of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to older flagship devices. Just recently, the South Korean company updated the Samsung Experience launcher so that last year’s flagships could also have the home screen rotation feature.
