Sarah Ferguson reportedly infuriated Queen Elizabeth II years ago and before she divorced Prince Andrew.

In the book “The Diana Chronicles,” author Tina Brown claimed that Her Majesty was especially displeased when news about Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s separation was leaked to the press.

The Queen advised her son and former daughter-in-law during the Christmas of 1991 to wait six months before they formally decide to separate. However, Prince Andrew did not listen to his mom’s advice. Three months later, the news of the Duke and Duchess of York’s separation broke to the press.

According to Brown, the leak ruined Ferguson’s relations with the palace and the royal family. It also affected her financial negotiations during her divorce from Prince Andrew. After all, the Queen and the palace were convinced that it was Ferguson who leaked the information about her separation from Prince Andrew.

The mom of two was also accused of hiring her own PR company to hand over the news to the media. And in 1996, after their divorce was finalized, Ferguson said that she was branded unsuitable for royal life.

“I was frozen out and not just in the palace; the wind from all the doors slamming in my face might have knocked me over,” she wrote in her autobiography.

However, Brown said that it wasn’t actually Ferguson that leaked the news about her separation to the press. Andrew Morton, a royal author, previously confirmed that it was Princess Diana who told the media about it.

The late Princess of Wales reportedly wanted to create a press distraction because her collaboration with Morton, the “Diana – Her True Story,” was set to be released at that time.

“After Diana’s death, Morton finally revealed that it was the Princess of Wales who had served up her erstwhile best friend to provide the necessary press distraction,” Brown said.

However, Ferguson never suspected that Princess Diana was the one that leaked the news about her divorce. The two had a falling out before Princess Diana passed away following a fatal car crash in Paris in 1997.
