“Scandal” recently dropped its first official Season 7 photo of Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).

The snap shows Pope sitting on a bench, with her white hat right beside her. The lead character’s back is turned towards the camera, but the photo confirms that Pope is wearing a red dress. The picture also confirms once again that Season 7 will be the final one for the series.

In “Scandal” Season 7, newly-appointed White House chief of staff Pope will be working for President Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young). But what the latter doesn’t know is that Olivia played a crucial role in reconstituting the lethal black ops division of her dad, Rowan Pope (Joe Morton), also known as the B613. This bold move confirms that Olivia’s hands are not clean so it is also unclear whether or not she will be wearing her white hat in the final season of the hit ABC series.

While at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Sunday, ABC chief Channing Dungey said that the final 18 episodes of “Scandal” will be “nothing short of spectacular.”

Previously, executive producer Shonda Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter that “Scandal” will wrap up with a bang next year.

“Deciding how to end a show is easy. Deciding when to finish it is quite simple when the end date is years away. But actually going through with it? Actually standing up to say, ‘This is it?’ Not so much. So, next year we are going all out. Leaving nothing on the table. Creating this world in celebration. We are going to handle the end the way we like to handle the important things in our ‘Scandal’ family: all together, white hats on, Gladiators running full speed over a cliff,” she said.

Meanwhile, Grant recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly regarding the “bittersweet” ending of “Scandal.” “We’re so grateful to be together for another year, but the clock is ticking, so every moment feels precious,” she said.

“Scandal” Season 7 will premiere on ABC on Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. EST.
