ABC's "Secrets and Lies" is beefing up its cast ahead of Season 2, which premieres in 2016. The mystery anthology series just announced it has tapped "Witches of East End" star Eric Winter for a pivotal role in the new episodes.

TVLine reported Winter has signed on for a recurring role in the ABC series' sophomore run. Winter will play Neal Oliver, the best friend of Eric Warner, the man who will be the suspect in Season 2's crime mystery. Warner will be played by Michael Ealy, best known for his roles in "The Following" and "Almost Human." The pair are joined by a growing Season 2 cast that includes, Terry O’Quinn ("Lost"), Jordana Brewster ("Dallas"), Charlie Barnett ("Chicago Fire"), AnnaLynne McCord ("90210") and Kenny Johnson ("The Shield").

Season 2 will be a blank slate for "Secrets and Lies." The anthology series' structure means the new episodes will feature a brand new mystery. The only thing linking the two stories will be that Juliette Lewis' Detective Andrea Cornell will return as the investigating officer. However, while Season 1 was heavily based on the Australian series, also titled "Secrets and Lies," and followed a nearly identical episode-to-episode plot, Season 2 will be a brand new ball game as the Australian series did not continue after its debut season.

Season 2 of "Secrets and Lies" will kick off with murder of Kate Warner. When she is found dead, her new husband and heir to his family's private equity firm, Eric Warner, becomes the chief suspect. Is he actually guilty?

Fans will remember from Season 1 that nothing in "Secrets and Lies" is ever that simple. All season fans, and Cornell, had believed Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) had been responsible for the murder of Tom Murphy, but by the finale it had been revealed that Tom was killed by Ben's daughter, Abby (Belle Shouse), after she and Tom's failed attempt at running away together. However, eager to protect his family, Ben decided to take the blame for the murder anyway.

Will Eric Warner be held responsible for his wife's death in Season 2? Fans will have to wait to find out. Season 2 of "Secrets and Lies" will premiere on ABC in 2016.
