Move over, Ryan Phillippe -- “Secrets and Lies” has a new murder suspect to follow in Season 2. The ABC series has cast Michael Ealy to play the male lead in the mystery crime drama.

Ealy, 41, is known for his roles on “The Following,” “Almost Human,” “Californication” and “The Good Wife.” On “Secrets and Lies” he’ll be tackling the part of Eric Warner, a “well-educated newlywed and heir apparent to his family’s private equity firm in Charlotte, N.C.” Eric Warner sounds like he has the perfect life … until his wife, Kate, is murdered.

According to Deadline, Eric will have a bit of an upper hand on Phillippe’s Season 1 character, Ben Crawford, because he has an alibi for the night that Kate was murdered. The site reports that he was “attending a party to honor his dad’s retirement.” So, who killed his wife? Juliette Lewis will reprise her role as Detective Andrea Cornell to find out. And knowing Cornell, Eric is not off the table as a suspect.

As previously reported, “Secrets and Lies” is rebooting for its sophomore season, introducing a brand new case and cast. Lewis and Ealy are currently the only confirmed cast members for Season 2, as Phillippe announced in May that Ben’s storyline ended during the finale. The series seemingly killed him off in an online video posted after the last episode aired. Fans are hoping to learn more about Cornell’s mysterious backstory and criminal daughter.
