A security guard hired to watch guests' belongings for a pair of professional boxers' wedding in Brisbane, Australia, was caught on camera allegedly stealing gifts and letters from the couple's wishing well.

Bec Rodriguez and her husband, Adrian Rodriguez, discovered that some of their wedding gifts were missing days after the ceremony, 7News.com.au reported. They said a friend contacted them to explain something they had written in a card they left during the couple's wedding reception at Lightspace in Fortitude Valley earlier this month.

"That's when Adrian realized we'd never opened a card from [the friend]," Bec, also known as current bare-knuckle boxing featherweight world champion Bec Rawlings, was quoted as saying.

The couple approached the venue and asked management to review the surveillance footage from the night of the reception. The footage revealed that a security guard had allegedly stolen an estimated AUD$1,050 ($770) worth of gifts from the wishing well, as well as cards and letters from guests.

"It's just the audacity of the guy, who we've hired to secure our stuff, and he's actually stolen it," Bec said.

"It's quite disgusting, to be honest. It's not something you should be dealing with a week after your wedding," she added.

Bec also claimed that the venue's management agreed to review the footage only after she and Adrian were asked to contact their guests to see if they had removed the contents of the wishing well.

"I was angry, upset. I was really frustrated with the process, having to call my guests saying, 'Did you take something out of my wishing well?'" Bec said, describing the process as "frustrating" and "awkward."

Bec and Adrian have reported the incident to police, which is what the venue and security firm that employed the guard recommended the couple to do. Both the venue and firm claimed they would cooperate with the investigation fully.

"Unfortunately, we can’t provide comment as this will become a police investigation, but suffice to say we empathize completely with the couple in this matter," Lightspace said in a statement.

"We have provided any assistance necessary and will continue to cooperate fully to help in any way we can," they added.

The couple said they have been notified that police have launched an investigation into the matter.

Some of the couple's guests have joked that the alleged thief may want police to deal with the case, according to Bec.

Aside from being a bare-knuckle boxing world champion, Bec also previously fought in the UFC on several occasions. Adrian, meanwhile, is a professional boxer with a 14-win, four-loss and two-draw record.

"It's funny because all my guests said, 'Does this guy know who he’s stolen from?'" Bec said before laughing.
