Convenience store chain Sheetz, which sells fast food and gasoline, closed two locations this week after employees tested positive for coronavirus.
A store in Chardon, OH, was closed Wednesday. Another location in Luzerne County, PA, was shut down Tuesday. Both stores were immediately closed, according to company spokespersons.
The company said the stores will be professionally deep cleaned and disinfected. Gas pumps will also be cleaned and sanitized.
All employees will be fully paid while the store is closed, according to the company. The company reported it is working with employees who may have had close contact with their infected colleagues.
The contagion has frayed nerves. A man standing outside a store in Johnstown, PA was confronted by another man when he coughed without covering his mouth on Monday. Guillermo Alvarez was so irritated with the unsolicited advice that he grabbed a gun from his car and started firing at the other man's car. No one was hurt. Police later arrested Alvarez.
Sheetz has stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
