A stuntwoman and her husband were shot and killed by the woman's ex-husband in his driveway following what the ex-husband claimed to be an ambush by the victims.

According to Lindsey Duncan, who shot both the victims, his ex-wife and her husband had allegedly ambushed him and his current wife, Molly, which lead to the shootout. As per the report filed by the officers who had responded to the scene near Yellow Springs, Hollywood stuntwoman Cheryl Sanders, 59, and her husband, Reed Sanders, 56, were found dead outside Lindsey Duncan's house early Wednesday, AP News reported.

According to Duncan, he and his wife, Molly, were ambushed by a man in a mask and hoodie as they stopped to pick up their mail and delivery at their gate while returning home. The man then pulled out a gun and pointed it at Molly's head.

At the Friday news conference, Duncan said whatever had happened was purely based on instinct, as he didn't know what to do at that point.

Greene County Sheriff Gene Fischer said based on initial investigations that, after the first alleged assailant, Reed Sanders was shot, his wife, Cheryl also arrived armed and was killed in a gunfire exchange.

Later on, during the investigation, authorities recovered 3 firearms, out of which one belonged to Duncan, for which he has a conceal carry permit. Fischer added that they were looking for surveillance footage of the incident.

Adrian King, a friend of the deceased Cheryl and Reed Sanders, claimed that the couple had planned to visit Ohio in order to settle their dispute over Cheryl and Duncan's daughter's college funds. However, Molly Duncan claimed that the couple had no such discussion with them, and had started shooting at them without any warning.

The case is listed as a justifiable homicide as per the initial incident report from the sheriff's office and is still under investigation. According to an assistant county prosecutor, Suzanne Schmidt, the case would be presented to a Grand Jury once the investigation is complete.
