  • Simon Cowell got into another bike accident after nearly two years from the first one
  • The "American Idol" judge was hospitalized with a broken arm but was also released that night
  • Cowell is not ditching his bike but will reportedly start wearing a helmet on his rides

Simon Cowell was hospitalized again for another bike accident, multiple outlets reported.

Cowell, 62, was involved in an electric bike accident near his home in West London Thursday. According to a source, his e-bike slipped, and he was not wearing a helmet during the ride.

"Simon is lucky to be alive," an unnamed source told Us Weekly. "He was pedaling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch. He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road."

The former "American Idol" judge broke his arm and was released from the hospital the night of the accident after getting a cast. He is expected to make a full recovery.

"Despite this being his second great escape, Simon insists he's not ditching the bike — but he will start wearing a helmet," the insider said.

Another unnamed source told Page Six that he is already "okay." "He's doing well and is healing at home," a second anonymous tipster told the outlet.

Cowell got into a bike accident in August 2020. He went into a six-hour surgery following the incident. An unnamed source told Page Six he had several breaks and had a metal rod put into his back. When the celebrity fell off his bike, he reportedly landed right on his back.

It took Cowell months to fully recover that he skipped the entire second half of the "America's Got Talent" season at the time. Speaking of the horrific experience, Cowell was grateful, and he considered himself "lucky."

"If you saw the scan, I mean, I was like a millimeter away from just completely cutting my back in half. So I consider myself lucky," he told Entertainment Tonight. "It could've been a lot worse."

The incident happened amid the pandemic, so Cowell found it a blessing in disguise because he was stuck indoors for months.

"Weirdly it was a good thing that it happened. I didn't get COVID because I wasn't able to travel and I probably would've done my fair share last year," he added.

Meanwhile, Howie Mandel sent Cowell a tricycle to keep him safe for his next ride. Cowell shared a photo of the present on Instagram and thanked his fellow "AGT" judge. Several of his followers approved of Howie's gift.

"NOW U DONT HAVE TO USE THE ELECTRIC ONE AGAIN," one commented.

"Ha ha ha ha will suit u enjoy and try not to fall off," another added.
