Is Snoop Dogg Ron Paul's biggest fan? Reuters

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul is getting a campaign boost from an unlikely source: Snoop Dogg.

The rapper posted a photo of the candidate on his Facebook page with the caption Smoke Weed Everyday. Paul is still vying to be put on the presidential ticket for the 2012 election. A former physician, he is partially known for his more liberal views on drug use, particularly medical marijuana. Snoop Dogg was busted earlier this month in Texas for possession of the drug -- a no-tolerance state when it comes to marijuana -- and was issued a citation for misdemeanor drug possession, according to a TMZ report.

The photo post had more than 21,000 likes as of Tuesday morning and more than 2,000 shares.

Comments were enthusiastic.

One man wrote the following: Substance...What Ron Paul speaks and Snoop Dog smokes!!! Ron Paul/Snoop Dog in 2012!

SNOOP get more creative with your support for this man! came from another Facebook user.

This isn't the rapper's first marijuana-related Facebook photo. He posted a picture of himself with Darth Vader with the caption Come to the Dark Side We Have Weed.

He also posted a photo of himself smelling what appears to be a cigarette and wrote roll one smoke one!!

Snoop Dogg isn't the only rapper to wave a potentially influential magic wand over political happenings.

Rap mogul Sean Combs got involved in raising young voter awareness during the 2004 presidential election when then-incumbent George W. Bush ran against John Kerry. He also founded the now defunct organization Citizen Change. It's slogan -- Vote or Die! - was parodied on South Park.

Rapper Jay-Z was a vocal supporter of President Obama during the 2008 presidential elections. He filmed a public service announcement and gave free concerts in Detroit and Miami to raise voter awareness, according to a Billboard report.
