Sony’s PlayStation 4 is currently savoring its success for raking a staggering 102.8 million units shipped and hailed as the second best-selling gaming console of all time next to PlayStation 2. Right now, all eyes are focused on the next generation gaming console from the Japanese console maker, the PlayStation 5. We have heard a lot of things about the PS5, but Sony seems confident in the success of the PlayStation 5 based on the recent statement of Sony’s Hiroki Totoki.

During Sony’s most recent financial briefing, the new CFO Hiroki Totoki commented that he had no doubts that almost everyone is expecting that PlayStation 5 will be a big hit when it finally arrives in 2020. Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki, the CFO, briefly discussed the PlayStation 5 launch lineup sharing that both first and third parties have next-generation games that will satisfy gamers. Totoki added that Sony is still looking into possible streaming market specifically through the PlayStation Now service.

So far, we know that Bluepoint Games is currently working on a major PlayStation 5 game. Third-party games like “Rainbow Six: Quarantine,” “Watch Dogs: Legion,” and “Gods and Monsters” are being delayed because they are currently optimized for the PS5. It is not surprising to hear Sony showing confidence in the PlayStation 5.

Earlier, a job listing posted by Sony claimed that the PlayStation 5 is the fastest gaming console in the world. While there is a significant level of hype on the PlayStation 5, fans are still guessing as to the possible PS5 launch titles. Rumors have it that “Ghost of Tsushima” and “The Last of Us 2” are among the top PlayStation 5 titles releasing in 2020.

While it is assumed that PlayStation 5 will feature backward compatibility, it is likely that these two titles will remain PlayStation 4 exclusives and will simply be playable on Sony’s next-generation gaming console. Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan officially announced that the PlayStation 5 will arrive sometime in the holiday season of 2020.
